I graduated from Beijing University of Technology in China with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering in June 2005. I knew that studying in France would give me priceless experience for my long term career-goal; to set up my own company doing trade between China and France. I wanted to know more about the French and European culture, find out more about business habits and have the chance to explore business opportunities.
I chose EDHEC not only for its great reputation in France but also for its renowned tailor-made Master in Management programme. For me, the longer I stayed in France, the better I would get to know the country so I chose the two-year MiM programme which is famous in France as the elite Grande Ecole programme. Moreover, this programme also requires a 4- 6 month period studying or working in another country and I'll use this chance to gain cross-cultural experience and further enrich my international background.
When I arrived here, I was surprised by the intimacy of EDHEC's campus in Nice. Compared with the universities in China the campus is far smaller and on a more human scale. The professor-student ratio is really low and the professors know the students well. Inside the campus, everything reminds you that you're now in one of the best business school's in France and the whole campus is surrounded in a business atmosphere.
It's so hard to say which class has been the best so far because all the courses have been interesting and useful! In class, we're always active - the professors interact a lot with the students, they encourage us to share our own opinions and discuss them with others. Most of our assignments are done in group work and this is really interesting. During the group discussions we share and discuss our own thoughts with team members from different countries. I feel the culture shock every second and it's a great feeling. By being with brilliant people I think you'll become more brilliant yourself!
Life at EDHEC is really appealing. It's impossible to feel bored or lonely because there are so many associations. They regularly host different activities like cultural or tourist visits and organise parties where you can meet new friends. Thanks to all the services provided by EDHEC, I can enjoy my life here in Nice. As a new comer and foreigner, it's easy to feel helpless when facing with difficulties but EDHEC has foreseen any eventual problems. The International Office helps us with our daily problems like accommodation and resident permit and free French courses are provided in order to help us settle down more easily in France. Among all the services, I am particularly impressed with the EDHEC Careers Centre. The careers officers provide a tailor-made career counselling service and I benefit a lot from their excellent work.
EDHEC is a melting pot for talents from all over the world. I think it is professional in business and perfect in services and I would certainly recommend it to anyone thinking of enrolling!
